Wir leben in einer politsch immer »korrekteren« Welt, und haben eine wirtschaftliche Ungleichheit wie seit Jahrzehnten nicht mehr, mit den gleichen Barrieren wie eh und je – nur ist der Stacheldraht heute rosa angepinselt. Ein Logo ist insofern reine Symbolpolitik – es ist insofern nur verständlich, dass hier ein Minister gern in ein Juryamt wahrnimmt –, die nichts bewirken kann und auch nichts bewirken will, es ist so wirkungsvoll, als würde man die Putzfrau zur Facility Managerin umdefinieren, natürlich ohne Gehaltserhöhung oder sonstige faktische Änderungen. Natürlich kann Design sozial und politisch sein. […] Design in komplexerer Form – als Propaganda, als System von Bildern, Memen, Texten, als Gärtnertätigkeit im Treibhaus der Kommunikation, kann langfristig sehr wohl Wirkung entfalten […]«

«[…] as a designer, it bothers me, not only because badly designed things bother designers, but because badly designed things in a highly successful product spur a lust for imitation. I don’t want our clients to think “like” works. I don’t want them desiring similarly broken functionality on sites we design for them. I don’t want them thinking users don’t need tools that work, simply because millions of users don’t complain about broken tools on Facebook. Tools like like and its sad little pop-up.

On wednesday I went to the very great and essential exhibition «Heroes, Freaks, and Super-Rabbis — The Jewish Dimension of Comic Art», on friday afternoon I spend the afternoon in Potsdam at the HPI School of Design Thinking for the final presentation of the last 12-weeks-project and friday night we watched the very good documentary «Planet B-Boy» about the «Battle of The Year 2005».
